No experience is needed! Your knowledgable guide will help you learn the basics and tour you around one of the premier eco-tourist destinations in San Diego.

After a brief paddle instruction and safety talk, you'll take your kayak down to the beach in La Jolla Shores and paddle to the La Jolla Sea Caves taking in the gorgeous views and watching for the abundant wildlife. You'll also go through the incredible rock formations and caves (if conditions permit), through the expansive kelp forests and wildlfie hot spots and cap it all off with a kayak surf ride back to the beach.

You can see numerous types of sea birds and usually sea lions, seals and sometimes dolphins or even orcas!

What to Expect: Be prepared to get wet! For safety reasons, the tour operator does not guarantee going into the caves on tours. Entrance to caves based on ocean conditions, safety and participants ability as determined by guide.

This tour is recommended for ages 6 and up. Participants must be able to swim.

PLEASE BE IN THE KAYAK SHOP 1 HOUR BEFORE TOUR START TIME, Allow time for parking and gear set up
Expect to get wet, please wear appropriate clothes such as a bathing suit and shoes that can get wet (tennis shoes, 'river shoes' or flip flops)
Hats, sun screen and towels are strongly advised
Please do not bring valuables and things that cannot get wet
There is a weight limit of 250 pounds per single kayak and 450 pounds per double kayak

I had great time kayaking with Sara & Maddie who were both excellent guides. Felt safe/well taken care of. We didn't get to go to the caves because of the tide/rough seas but that isn't the tours fault. It was much warmer than I expected considering it's January. You do not really need a wet suit and while you will get wet you're not swimming unless you capsize or something lol. It was a pretty good workout. I will say this is not the easiest way to see sea lions/seals up close. So if you just wanna see the animals and you don't actually enjoy kayaking, this may not be the excursion for you.

Was advertised as Sea caves kayak tour, but tour operator did not reveal until start of tour that due to high waves, cave tour won’t happen.

Beautiful day in the water even though the waves were too high to go into the caves. We learned that there is a greater chance in other seasons if the year but the weather was beautiful and sara was a great tour guide.

It was a perfect San Diego winter day to be on the water. Turns out, our guide, Ryan, is one I had on a previous kayak excursion. Ryan grew up on these waters and is full of folklore stories about the cove and its inhabitant. The short trip through the caves was a highlight. My friend and I had lots of fun and laughter.

Had a great time! Ryan and Brodie were awesome! Very knowledgeable, funny, great stories, interesting tidbits of Lo Jolla history… made for a very special and memorable experience with my daughters! I loved the sea caves and kayak surfing!! This is THE tour you want to go on!!!!

What a cool trip! All of the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed the stories they had to tell & the information they had to share. The guides definitely carried a fun & positive atmosphere. I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone I know traveling in the area.

My cousin and I had a fun time on this trip! The kayaking was a bit of a workout because it was a rather cold and windy day, but the tour guides Adam and Vishal kept it light with fun facts and cute jokes. We only could go in one cave, but Adam and Vishal helped us in and out, and it was worth it.

We had a great time. Elli was our guide. She was informative, thoughtful , and very competent. We all felt safe with her. We saw tiger sharks, garibaldis, pelicans. The caves were cool. Highly recommend this acto

Sarah and Brody were AMAZING tour guides - super fun, super knowledgeable and caring! We were able to go into the cave and it was super neat. Our tour was about 2.5 hours long. We watched the sea lions as well from the Cove.
